The following New Employee Orientation was designed to ensure your smooth transition as a new employee with the State of Delaware. In these modules we have provided you with the foundation, knowledge, tools, and resources to prepare you for your journey through the new hire and benefits enrollment processes*.
We have also provided you with instant access to the most up-to-date Merit Rules and policies and procedures, which will provide you with your roadmap to a productive and successful career. In addition, we have provided you with two key documents – the New Hire Checklist and the Health Benefits Enrollment Form, and instructions sheets, to help you identify, organize, and submit all the required forms and back-up documentation you will need to submit in order to complete the new hire process. This orientation has been organized into five separate modules - each addressing important topics you will need to review and familiarize yourself with in order to complete the new hire process. Once you have completed the first module, you may go back and review that module again, or you may proceed on to the next module until you have reviewed all five modules. Once you have completed all five modules you will be asked to complete a brief survey about your on-line orientation experience. Please take a moment to complete this survey.

The Affordable Care Act requires everyone to have health insurance by January 1, 2014.
The law requires that you read the notice “Affordable Care Act and Marketplace Notices”. Please be sure to read this information before proceeding with this orientation as it may affect your decision in choosing a health care plan option. If you choose not to participate in the State's Plan but are covered under another plan, then you may meet the individual mandate.
If you are not covered under any health plan and choose not to enroll in one of the State's Plans then you may want to explore coverage options through the Health Insurance Marketplace, or you will not be eligible to enroll in one of the State's Plans until open enrollment which occurs in May with a July 1, benefit effective date.
